Von H. Shelton, attended Marshall Elementary, Junior High and Senior High School in Angleton, Texas, earning the honor of salutatorian of his graduating class of 1962. He then attended Bishop College in Dallas, Texas in the fall of 1962 and graduated in 1966 with a Bachelor of Science Degree.
After college he entered the workforce as a Laboratory Analyst for Arco Chemical Company for fifteen years. Continuing his education, he entered The Thurgood Marshall School of Law at Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas, graduating with a Juris Doctor degree.
Von has practiced law in his home town of Angleton, Texas for more than forty years and historically he is the first African American Attorney to open a law office in private law in Brazoria County. He is a member of the State Bar of Texas, The United States District Courts, for the Southern, Eastern and Western District of Texas and The United States Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit.
Von has also served the local Brazoria County community as a member of the Board Directors for the Women’s’ Center of Angleton, Texas and is currently the Attorney for the Town of Holiday Lakes. In addition, he is the owner and operator of “The Barber Shop” in Angleton, Texas, and he is a member of Windsor Village United Methodist Church.
